These are the main methods our specialist
use, when cleaning carpet fabric, we can and we do a combination
of these together, dependant on the condition, type and level of
soiling of the carpet fibres.
-
EXTRACTION: Cleaning solution is
pumped under pressure through a nozzle positioned close to the carpet
and immediately in front of revolving brush. Solution is vacuumed away
through a slotted head behind the brush. Carpet fibres are washed, brushed,
parted and straightened. The soil is agitated loose, emulsified, flushed
and vacuumed away. If soil is not heavy, a powered brush-head may not
be used.
-
ROTARY: Cleaning solution is fed down, by
gravity, from a tank mounted on the handle of a floor machine
to a nylon brush. Carpet fibres are agitated by the rotary action
of the nylon brush as soil is emulsified by the solution. Excess
suds are sometimes vacuumed away with a wet vacuum, sometimes
not.
-
BONNET: Cleaning solution is fed
down, by gravity, from a tank mounted on the handle of a floor machine
through a yarn pad. Carpet soil is emulsified by the solution and transferred
to the yarn pad. Sometimes a hand-held trigger bottle is used in place
of the handle-mounted tank.
- DRY FOAM: Cleaning solution is turned into
foam and brushed into the carpet fibres where it emulsifies
the soil and dries. One system vacuums up the foam following
the brushing; another doesn’t
- DRY POWDER: Powder saturated with cleaning
solution is brushed into the carpet where it absorbs the soil
and is then vacuumed away with a dry carpet vacuum. One system
uses a cylindrical brush, the other a disc-type
