Could your desk make you ill this winter?

Eating and drinking at our desk does not create a healthy work space
Research has shown that bacteria on office keyboards could increase cold and flu amongst staff as the winter months approach, we have come across some  frightening statistics about the filth on peoples desks!

Here are the top 6 germiest places in your office, courtesy of Marie Claire:
  • Keyboard: 719 germs per square inch
  • Mouse: 846
  • Handbag: 882
  • Desktop: 1270
  • Phone: 2180
  • Chair: 67,700

Another study carried out by office supplies company Viking who swabbed a number of desks found bacteria such as Staphylococcus, Bacillus and Micrococcus, indicating a poor level of hygiene largely resulting from hot desking and workers eating lunch at their desks!

Cleaning expert Aggie MacKenzie, and environmental health expert Dr Lisa Ackerley offer advice on how to keep your desk germ-free on this short video which you can watch by clicking here.
